I see him going to a team that is still in a fight for the playoffs. CAR and NJ come to mind with CBJ also in there as there is a relationship and Jaro likes Euros.

Buffalo makes little sense to me.

Although Linus struggling in Buffalo would be just grand.

I will give EDM a 7th rounder which will become a 6th if he scores at least 10 goals. We also have a bag of pucks.

I say he's Burke's type of player. Giordano for Omark!

First of all, Cloutier wrote an almost identical blog last year. That's not a favourable comparison.

Second, for a 6th rounder or future considerations, I'd rather the Barons do well in scoring than the Sabres. Who gives a (frank) if he bolts to Europe after this year?

Can anyone explain why would want to move him for nothing as opposed to just keeping him for the year and then let him walk?

You know....this might actually be a deal that could work for both teams.

The Oilers need help on the back end and the Flames could use some offensive punch.

I think they would want some draft picks back though to continue with the rebuild.

Giordano for Omark and a 4th could work perhaps.

The verbal isn't that he'd bolt after this year. The rumours are that he would leave after Christmas. So the Barons would not benefit one bit in that scenario. As for any previous writer who suggested the same thing, this is coming up because one of the NHL's most respected journalists suggested a trade was coming soon and I put a spin on it that makes sense to me. I'm not worried one bit if anyone else thinks something similar.

So Gags looked sharp last night. A GTG, 13/16 in the faceoff circle and despite being on the ice for 2 GA actually out-chanced the opposing line.

On the game winner, Gagner actually outworks Perry for the puck before Petry stupidly takes it from him and whips it right back to Anaheim, then loses Getzlaf behind the net, then feebly comes out to block the shot.

It's another high slot goal, but this one isn't on Gagner.

It's just one game, but let's hope this is the demotion getting through to him.

Ah I see.

Well that's a more in-the-know response than the ol' puckrant CEO would deliver, so kudos to you!

He can't really bolt though, then again he's probably not ever going to make any sort of IIHF tourney again.

The Flames don't need Gio or his contract. Time to move on and keep stacking chips.

Gagner in Edmonton is the same issue as Hodgson in Buffalo... both are #2 Centers who will average between 40-50 pts in a full, healthy season. Problem is, they're both expected to produce #1 statistics and it isn't going to happen. This is harder for Hodgson, due to less talent surrounding him than Gagner has alongside him (regardless of which line he plays on, except the 4th).

So, I'll offer up Ville Leino and Brayden McNabb for Sam Gagner and Linus Omark. I love McNabb, tough and physical blueliner with some offensive upside. His biggest problem is his skating and lack of NHL experience. Big-time upside in that kid. I'm only willing to part with him if the Oilers agree to take Leino out of Buffalo. Otherwise, best I can do is Alex Sulzer for Linus Omark.

I don't get it. That is pretty much what you gave for Smid. You should be getting a 1st for Gio

I'm with Iggysbff on this one. Omark has some decent value in our opinions.
